Since this is (probably) Al's last conventional album, it was also (probably) his last opportunity to ever rank #1 on Billboard.

Feels kinda like sinking a 3-point buzzer-beater to win the championship.

I believe it has to do with having a subject matter that is so easy to relate to among such a wide audience. There are many people who never would have listened to Al normally who have taken notice of that song.

Besides that, the song is really expertly written. The lyrics are possibly the strongest of any parody he's ever written.

As I mentioned in my Facebook post just now, it's a good time to be an Al fan.

YES! I hope to hear some radio airplay, but that is a FANTASTIC accomplish. Congrats to Al and the band! :D

I'm sure Foil would have been on there as well if it was posted on the VEVO account initially.

And then there's this from Rolling Stone:

"...track 'NOW That's What I Call Polka!' (notably not one of the eight videos released) topped Spotify's Viral Charts in seven countries."

Amazing~

Here are the countries: US, UK, Australia, Poland (!), Sweden (!), Netherlands (!), and Norway (!).

Globally on the Spotify Viral chart, Al's current rankings are as follows:

1. NOW That's What I Call Polka!
2. Word Crimes
3. Handy
4. Foil
6. Inactive
14. Tacky
18. Mission Statement
33. Sports Song

So this chart might give a good indication of which lyrics/songs connect best with the public. The public loves their Al polkas!
