Re: Sports Song
Thanks for posting that, tankgirl! I definitely hear what you mean.
I recognized the first song from an Animaniacs parody which I hadn't thought about in almost 20 years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufJTqT5gMg0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Sports Song
Oh this is fantastic! Yeah, "Sports Song" definitely reminds me of Sousa marches, especially these. I remember playing all three of these at some point during my time in marching band. We played Sousa marches and college fight songs, most of which high schools adopted as their fight songs. Ours was actually "Go U Northwestern". Leave it Al to make me think back fondly on marching band.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:
"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11
So awesome!

Re: Sports Song
Here's another similar song, again confirming the Monty Python vibe we're getting from Sports Song:

Of course, it's most likely that both of these songs are simply taking from the same style inspiration, rather than Al deliberately mimicking this particular song.

So, Al might have had a good gut-instinct to write this song...

Re: Sports Song
So this whole week so far I've been doing band camp. (It's really like an exercise boot camp FYI) Sports Song is the song that keeps making me want to go everyday all energetic to march. I've yet to show my band director but I really think he might enjoy the song I really want Al to release a whole band arrangement so that marching bands everywhere will get their turn to play it!
Concerts Attended: 1
September 19th, 2011 - Pikes Peak Center, Colorado Springs, CO
Some people say I'm the one who got Al to be in an Epic Rap Battles of History.

Re: Sports Song
What, last year's Super Bowl wasn't dramatic enough to hold your interest?

I couldn't even tell you who played.* I'm more of a baseball guy.TMBJon wrote:What, last year's Super Bowl wasn't dramatic enough to hold your interest?
*Okay, I know Denver was one of the teams because I read about Manning blowing up early...but couldn't tell you who they played. (I.e. the team that actually won.)
