Al will probably know very soon (If not already). There may even be some formal mention of it on @midnight.
I seem to remember he knew about Alpocalypse on the Tuesday night before the announcement too.

I'm a little curious as to why MF is doing so much better than Alpocalypse. I love both albums dearly. Is it simply because of the very smart 8 videos promotion? Maybe because the Gaga parody wasn't as big as it could've been when Alpocalypse came out because people heard it two months prior?
Anyway, congrats to Al and TBITB!
EDIT: What the heck, I started this post and put in the link to the UHF scene at the exact same time, and then minnick27 posted it before I finished the post. I guess I shouldn't be terribly surprised

WOOHOO, NUMBER ONE!
drewdy, you have to keep in mind this album is getting much more exposure online than Alp. Sites like Reddit had the videos and the AMA as some very popular posts last week.

Re: Mandatory Fun Chart Watch
It's actually pretty interesting to think that without the videos, this album probably would have done the same amount in first week sales as Alpocalypse (Alpocalypse still would have debuted at number 4 on this chart ).
In fact, the early projections were only around 7-10,000 more.
So while PTW may have been seen as a weak single (And the Gaga saga probably did more harm than good), the figures pretty much make it clear that the album was already going to do fine on it's own, but the videos put it on a whole next level.

From this guy(he appears to do stuff with Billboard among other things)

Weird Al Yankovic's Mandatory Fun will be #1 Album on Billboard tomorrow with around 104,000 sales; Jason Mraz's Yes! #2 with 83,000.
