Hey I didn't know you designed Rubén's new Album cover!! LOL I really thought he would sell that CD to me for $1 !!
It was so dark out there I couldn't see your face or I would have said "hi" to you! I am a dork and I didn't know your name so I didn't know it was you LOL!
Hey guys, here's a very short concert review... because I'm in Vegas and don't feel like spending the time to write a minute-for-minute account. lol.
Tim and I rushed over since I had to work in the morning (in Orange County), thinking the show was at 7. We got there at 10 till, only to find that everyone was still standing outside the venue. Huh. Well, we eventually got let in, and we found our seats. For awhile, we were the only ones in our row lol- private party!! The crew was still messing with the video projectors, and it wasn't looking good for an 8pm sharp show. They kept messing with them, and they rigged one of their old SD projectors in the middle... which isn't a good sign. When it looked like they finally had the three running... the center one started flashing between color and greyscale, and the one on stage right went black with a message: "temp error". Turns out, they all got fried in the desert heat (it was 108)... so for the entire show, we only had the center screen with the old projector (good thing they kept them as backups). Most of the time, we just saw what would be in the center. But, for some things like WAN, it went to super letterbox so we could read the song title. Either the computer is intelligent enough to know what we need to see, or someone was smart enough to make an emergency one-screen version of the show. Right before Let Me Be Your Hog, Al explained that normally the video covers that entire "nice, wiiiiide screen", but the heat fried the projectors, so we should all picture really cool video that's taking up the entire screen, and since everyone will imagine something different, we would all have a unique concert experience!! Haha.
Alt songs were Frank and YDLMA, which I think is my favorite combo. I love Frank live. The rest of the show was awesome, and Al's vocals were probably the best I've heard in a long time. No other tech issues besides the video.
After the show, we were rushed through greeting Al, then I went over to the busses to meet up with Rubén. He ended up using me to try and sell his CDs... haha. Those that were standing out there were against a metal barricade, and the two of us walked around on the inside while he did his pitch. He was all, "Do you know who I am?" A couple people said his name, but for the most part, people had no clue LOL. Then he pointed to me, and asked the same question, but of course nobody would know, so he immediately said, "This is Kristine, everyone! She designed my debut Album!!" After a few minutes of trying to convince people to buy the CDs, he eventually gave up. Oh, well.
Tim and I didn't hang around much after that, but I know there was a public MAG with one autograph only. We went to our hotel and called it a night... we were both quite exhausted.
If you like frozen yogurt the Golden spoon is good too
I think I was the only one who knew who was Ruben was - LOL I was trying to get his attention earlier so he could sign my Al Fest shirt (why I didn't get them all to sign it at Al Fest is beyond me...too shy I guess)
I would have bought a CD but I only had a dollar LOL....and he did say it was a dollar when I asked him how much it was!! Then of course he quickly raised the price to $15 LOL Next time you are in town let me know!!
