Melissa posted this on facebook today, didn't see a topic for it here:

"UHF Screening - “Weird Al” Yankovic Live and In-Person - Post-Screening Q&A!

“Weird Al” Yankovic will appear live and in-person for a screening of his cult classic 1989 film UHF on September 16th at the Columbus Theatre in Providence, RI. Al will do a post-screening Q&A with fans. VIP ticket holders will have an opportunity to meet Al after the event, take a photo, and receive an autographed poster commemorating the event."

I'm buying a ticket for this instead of my prom. CB Johnny and I are gonna partake in the pre-show shenanigans. Who else is going????

Strongly considering some sort of George Newman cosplay for the event. :)

I'm planning to go. Where does it say pre-show shenanigans? Or is that just something you are doing on your own?

On our own. So any fellow locals know a good place within walking distance of the venue to eat or mingle?

I'm such a homebody and don't go to that part of Providence much.

Last time I was down there I went to Blake's Tavern with my crew. I liked it a lot, and I don't know how far it is from the theatre, but I'm down for anything. Also Johnny, you frequent Providence way more than me so do you have any good ideas? I can't think of anything else besides Blake's

Just found this place: Julian's. Right on the corner of Vinton and Broadway, almost right next door

Oooooh, I love that it has a variety of interesting vegan options! I am not vegan, but my daughter is, so it's nice to see vegan options besides pasta marinara and a garden salad at restaurants. :)
I would definitely eat here if everyone else is down for it.

Tickets finally purchased. I think I ended up in fifth row. BTW, if your credit card won't go through, check to make sure that the city and ZIP code are in the correct fields. The system automatically fills them in -- or at least it did for me -- and puts them in the wrong place. Also note that the map is a little confusing -- the better seats are darker green and at the bottom instead of at the top, like you might think.

Also, I couldn't see any option for VIP so I either missed it, or it sold out why I was trying to figure out why my credit card wouldn't go through. I thought it would be harder to find a ticket purchasing website that is more difficult to work with and more frustrating than Ticketmaster, but Ticketfly might take that dubious honor.
