Taking Kids to concerts

Post by crazygurl14 »

I am thinking about taking my 6 year old daughter to the Kettering concert. All 5 concerts I've been to I have had really good seats so I really don't want to have to sit WAYYYYY in the back but I am afraid being very close to the stage would be too loud for her. I know Al says his concert is for all ages and he has seen babies there so maybe I am just being too paranoid. Has anyone ever taken their young children? How did they do?

*EDIT* I now realize this is probably in the wrong section and should be in the general concert threads. If needed, go ahead and move

The content should be fine for a 6 year old, but she should wear something to protect her hearing.

I know my Social Studies teacher took his 7-year-old son to his last concert at Turning Stone, and he said that he [the kid] really enjoyed it. They were on the balcony and said they didn't need ear plugs. But that's up to you whether you want to wear them or not. :)

06-02-13 Port Chester NY
10-08-13 Verona NY

Get peltor hearing protection for the kidlet.

My kid has been wearing them since she was an infant. They're inexpensive and should be used any time a kid will be exposed to loud noises for any longer duration of time. (Concerts, car races, fireworks, etc)

Ear plugs aren't just for kids! As a musician who knows far too many people with hearing loss, please take care and do everything you can to protect your hearing!

I wear earplugs when I rehearse with my bands. I have never worn earplugs to a show because I like to feel every ounce of noise the band can bring to me. I really don't think there is any band known to be overly amped up that I have not seen. I can still hear great, just saying. Probably a good idea for kids younger than like 8. Mind you Al and the boys play at different levels. If you are going to a casino show it won't be as loud in a showroom or open air then in a theatre for example. They tend to be waaay quieter in smaller areas.
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars!!

I've actually felt Als shows have been louder on the last tour than they ever were before. Reading was the 2nd show of the Internet Leaks tour, and it was pretty uncomfortable. Obviously it got better, but they were still pretty loud. House of Blues was another loud show, and I was upstairs for that.
