But if alcohol was served there, it probably would be 21+ to go there. Afterall, I can't go to the Funny Bone here because they serve liquor there.

Just three more years, three more years.

No interest in the alchohol, I just want to go to that comedy club.

When I was younger there where concert clubs I could get into at 18 because...this may seem weird...but at 18 you are legal to serve alcohol (like in a restraunt) you just can't drink it. So these venues let 18 year olds in and make them where under age wrist bands. it wouldn't make sense to be able to work there, but not be allowed in any other time. I'm probably way off base on all this. Maybe the venue just doesn't like people under 18?

I know at a lot of the restaurants here, you're still not allowed to serve liquor even if you are 18. You have to be 21ish.

No wait, maybe you have to be 19 here to serve it. Argh, I'm not sure.

the rest of the shows were 18+ also so it must be a venue policy.

Hampton Beach is a casino, and 18 is the minimum legal age in New Hampshire for all kinds of gambling except parimutuel. If you want to lose your shirt on the ponies, you have to be 21.

That is just plain weird. I know that Als shows are 18+, and doesnt management have to approve his opening acts?

That may be a new addition to the contract.

I did hear about once "comedian" who was actually asked to leave the stage due to the unsuitable nature of his routine. They audience was supposed to have applauded the ejection and he flipped them off. :nervous: And there was one act at Saugus (where they were serving alcohol), and the comedians remarks even grossed me out. :nervous: The parents around me were literally ready to start yelling at him to shut up.

That being said, I don't remember being scarred for life by anything I heard, saw or read when I was a kid, and look at me now... I'm normal as apple poi. I mean, apple pie (twitch, twitch).

Didn't Al's stage manager once actually turn off the microphone of a particularly obnoxious opening act?

I heard of a group of young punkers who would put huge black 'X''s on the backs of their hands since that was how a lot of clubs would know that you were underage for buying booze. Anyway, a lot of them were over 21, it was just a WAY to show that they were alcohol (and drug) free. I wish groups like that were still around today. I am the ONLY one out of all my friends who is WELL over 21 and refuses to drink or smoke weed or etc. Sometimes I feel very very alone. But I know what I accept into my body, and I'm not willing to comprimise on it.

I believe that is the same opener that Squirrelygirl described above.

There may very well have been others in which that happened, but I think the one fans have discussed before is the above one.

I've yet to be at a show with such an opening act, so I'm not sure.

Yeah, one of the most disappointing moments of my life was in San Diego, 1992. I was visiting relatives there and one day opened the newspaper to find that WEIRD AL(!!!!!) was playing in town that weekend! The paper had a big splash article on AL on the front page of the Calendar section and everything! This was for the "Off the Deep End" tour, by the way. My mom said I could go if tickets were still available, and I went down to the place where he was going to be performing. I was so excited, as this would have been my very first Al concert ever, and I had been a die-hard fan since 1984! Well, I got to the venue and it turned out to be a little nightclub-type place, and they told me I couldn't buy a ticket because I wasn't 21 and alcohol would be served. Talk about crushed! That's probably the only time Al was involved with making me feel lousy (indirectly, anyway...I know he didn't mean it). I was so depressed for the rest of my vacation.

But that's okay! Since then I've seen Al about 6 or 7 times in other places, and I've already got my tix to see him in LA this coming September! I can't wait...........!!!!!!!!
