I love this song of Al's. It's really funny.

One thing I've wondered about this song. I heard that Paul McCartney had denied permission because he was a vegetarian, but it appeared in the medley, which is what usually happens when Al can only think of a little bit of a parody, and doesn't want to drag it out for a whole song. CPP is only a few lines. Was it an idea Al had but hadn't developed when permission was denied?

I've never read anything about it, but that sounds like a good guess. Although quite a few of Al's very early songs start from an idea that gets played out before reaching full-song length.

According to everything Al has said recently about "Bad Date," it seems he gets the permission before even writing the song to make sure he doesn't waste his time. So I would assume he was denied permission and nothing more had been written beyond what we've heard.

That may be the case now, but back in the day Al may have written out full parodies before permission was obtained (ISBJTM) so there could be a full length CHicken Pot Pie, but I think it ended ok the way it was.

But that was in Al's early days. I doubt there's a full version. If there was we probably would hear it (like I'll Repair for You).

I agree, jace. If there was a full version, he would've played it in full live rather than just in the medley.

I agreed with jace cause of the last part of his post...

"I thought he ended it well"...

A full version does exist, but I don't think we'll get to hear it any time soon.
