You don't have THE "Pico and Sepulveda." You surely have the later performance where Al plays it on accordion.

The original version no longer exists, according to Dr. Demento - who understandably didn't keep a 13-year-old's submission.

There is no way. It was submitted to Dr Demento by Al and never got played on the air. Dr Demento did not keep the tape, so unless you were picking trash in LA in 1972 you would not have it. And it would definitely not have him talking

Listen to the talking again. He is announced as "Weird Al" and "all the way from Slo Town" Al didnt get the moniker Weird Al until his sophomore year of college, which he attended at San Luis Obispo. While this is extremely cool, and Ive never heard it, its not the original submission from when Dr D was looking for a new version of the theme. That recording was not chosen and was thrown away without ever being played. This was most likely done live on the show sometime between 1977-1980. Back then Dr Demento had a kind of morning zoo vibe to it with a ton of people in studio making all kinds of wacky sound effects and playing songs live on the show. I do appreciate you sharing this, and I wasnt trying to call you a liar or anything, Im trying to help you understand what you have.

Also, only giving up something "for a price" will back you into a corner among Al fans VERY, VERY quickly.

As for things you can get from traders FOR FREE....

Rumor has it I decided to just say 'screw it' and put out an end-all version of "Burgeropolis", containing 58 whopping tracks (plus one hidden bonus track) of Al's pre-fame goodness. But, you know, if such a thing existed, I wouldn't say where to get it. :D
