So, how many of you have been lucky enough to hear this song? Well, for those of you who havent, I listened very closely to the song, and typed out the lyrics. I decided to post this, because I've never seen it on ANY website before, and I thought you guys would like to read the lyrics for the song! Also I thought this would make a good discussion topic. :)

----
Beverly Hillbillies / Miss You
Live at Cal Poly in 1979
With Al on Accordion, and Joel Miller on bongo drums

Come and listen while I tell
You about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer
But he kept a family fed

Hey!
Come listen to me now while I tell you a story
About a man named Jed
Tell ya’ll somethin’
He’s a poor mountaineer
But he kept his family fed!

Chord change!
Then one day he was shootin’ at some food
When up near the ground came a bubblin’ crude
Oil that is! Black gold!

Then the next thing you know
Old’ Jed’s a millionaire
Keep away
Chh chh chh
Keep you away from there!

(whispering)

Said California’s the place you outta be
So they loaded up their truck and they moved to Beverly
EDIT: Hills That Is, come on!

-----------------
NOTE: Al and Joel also imitate the music in this song. Also note, these lyrics may not be exactly accurate.
-----------------

Okay, theres some added value for you. Hope you were amused! Thanks for dropping by! Now DISCUSS!!!
2018 Tour: Rochester, Minneapolis, Fargo, Clear Lake, and Green Bay...so far...

Very cool, Yank27. Hey, where'd you get this? Someone have a rarities tape?

I mean, I don't think you were THERE at Cal Poly when it happened ... considering you'd have been negative-eight years old at the time ... :P

I've never seen the lyrics of BH/MY posted anywhere before either; what a terrific find ... muchas gracias!! :whoot: :Y

Is it the same sort of thing like Money for Nothing / Beverly Hillbillies?
Cane and Rinse: weekly thoughtful video game discussion. Give it a listen, won't you?

Um, I think it's the Beverly Hillbillies theme sung to the tune of the Rolling Stones "Miss You". So, sorta, yeah.

That's interesting that he did that same song with two different tunes. Cool!

I wonder how many other rock songs would work with the Beverly Hillbillies theme song.

Does anyone know why "Beverly Hillbillies/Miss You" was never released? I mean it's not like Al has trouble getting permission from Mick Jaggar - "Hot Rocks Polka," "Toothless People," "Polkas on 45," "Polka Party," "Hooked on Polkas."

I think Al touches on that during the commentary on the UHF dvd. He also did something with a Prince's "Let's Go Crazy". Al said he did the Miss You song in concert at college coffeehouses. So, maybe it wasn't released because of limited exposure. Or maybe because he just did it for fun. You have to remember, this was just Al and Joel Miller. It would be cool to hear, though.

That totally polkas, Yank! Also, I don't think this was sent to Dr. Demento, IIRC...

Of course, bootleg tapes DID exsist back then. But hey, IMHO, if it's an unreleased Al song, you can download it.

-TheMecca, who's sick today :(

(Oh, and no special versions of Album songs like the Bathroom Version of My Bologna)
The Office: NBC, Thursdays at 9.
If you're not watching, you're doing yourself great injustice.

?? Why did you mention the bathroom version of My Bologna? You can hear that if you get the Permanent Reciord collection. There was also a placebo EP with several demos of Al's songs on it. Jusy trying to figure out what you're getting at, moap.

I mean that I think really obscure songs like "Fatter" could be downloaded, but not MB:OBV or any special versions of ALbum songs. (IE: AORTB live on Dr. Demento in 1980 is NOT legal to download IMHO.)
