For all of you who are die-hards like myself, Jarrett Heather (who animated the "Word Crimes" video) posted a very rough demo version of the song on Vimeo. Be warned, though, when I say it's a rough demo... it really is a rough demo. There's plenty of clipping, it's not mixed properly or mastered, and Al has yet to master some of the high notes-- though he has gotten them down nicely since recording the song and singing them in concert.

Haha, yep! As someone who does a lot of singing in the car, I can attest that the first few attempts at singing a new song sound terrible.Heds wrote:I'm dying, Al's voice is literally breaking and it's not working and he's knows it's all wrong

In my opinion Scottish accent is as majestic as a fat puppy trying to go down the stairs (which is cute, so at least you have that). You can hardly make anything sound seriousHeds wrote:majestic Scottish accent

Bridger987, thank you for posting this! Despite its rough state, I love listening to demo versions of songs because it shows how a song evolves instrumentally, lyrically, or in very much this case, vocally.Bridger987 wrote:For all of you who are die-hards like myself, Jarrett Heather (who animated the "Word Crimes" video) posted a very rough demo version of the song on Vimeo. This is very humbling and reminds me of my own recordings because whenever I demo a song, I sometimes have sour vocals, and do as many takes needed until it sounds right.
