Oh, the uproar those commercials (And Hanson's"River") caused!

Little did they know he had a real new look up his sleeve......

Well, yeah!
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Must say it was impressive, although the sound differed drastically from that of the original. I guess that's because Al has to just make the song recognisable, not copy the original entirely. I thought the original sounded cooler though, but Eat It's lyrics were definitely more impressive. In a couple of originals the same chorus is used throughout the song (e.g. Beat It, Bad, Gangsta's Paradise, etc) but in Al's versions he uses different lines in his choruses. That's pretty good.

I watched the video last night. And its ok, not one of my favorites. I thought it was better then MJ's. But I really think that for one of his earlier videos it was good but he has improved a lot.

The brilliance of it was in the parody. If you've seen the original, you can really appreciate it. If you haven't, it just doesn't have the same impact.

I remember back in the day being fooled by the video. Thinking it was MJ and then the words weren't quite right. And who's that white guy who's not Michael? (Keep in mind, Michael wasn't white then.)

THAT'S what "Weird Al" looks like?

It was a moment in time that you just had to be there. I wasn't a big AL fan at the time, but I remember thinking he was hilarious and the video was brilliantly done.

I've seen the original. And I do like Al's version better but its not a great video. I really wasn't laughing ethier. Maybe if I had been born a few years earlier I would have liked it.

Like Bobbi said, if you see Beat It, you'll appreciate Eat It.

I always thought the musical (sound) quality of Beat It was better, but Eat It was a lot funnier and more clever. But you really can't send Al's parodies up against the originals, since the originals are not meant to be funny (usually).
