Addicted To Spuds is easily the best song off of Polka Party!, a relatively weak album. Although Christmas At Ground Zero is awesome, I still think ATS takes the cake. It makes me hungry every time I listen to it.

What do you all think of Addicted To Spuds' awesomeness?

I love this song. I loved the live performance of it during the RWS tour. I also have some footage of Al singing this for an MTV New Year's party in the late 80's. Great, great stuff!
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

This is a very good song. Generally speaking, the parodies on "Polka Party" were the weak points of the album, but this song is an exception. I love the puns, and the song is cleverly written overall.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

With all the discussion about Toothless People, I went back and listened to the whole album, and realized that this is easily one of the best songs Al has done. You cant deny it has appeal.

Of the parodies on Polka Party, this is my favorite next to Toothless People. But this one overall, is the best parody of that album.

well, it's not my favorite track on PP ('don't wear those shoes', 'dog eat dog', even 'good enough for now' and the freakin' AWESOME polka all rank higher in my personal al-o-meter), but it's a great track.

for the record, i love potatoes and probably couldn't name my fave way of preparing them. mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, fries, chips... well dang, now i feel like the guy in forrest gump...

i'm gonna have to face it. i'm addicted to spuds.
now let me tell you what you DIDN'T win!

I don't know why this song is such a hit. It's one of my least favorites from Polka Party. And I hate all kinds of potatoes.

I think your hatred of potatoes is how come you don't understand why this song is such a hit.
