It's an OK song...I still don't quite understand it...but I'm sure if I really really knew what it was I would like it a little more...
You mean what a Velvet Elvis is? Its a picture of Elvis made out of velvet. If I'm wrong maybe someone could tell me. I hope that helps!

Ok, well, I explained about the song, and Manda mentioned what a Velvet Elvis actually is. Now, here's a pic of a Velvet Elvis painting:
I hope that helps. These are found in flea markets.

That's exactly right Manda.
Usually looks something like this.
The tackier looking, the better!!

Oh my! I always pictured a little velvety Elvis statue every time I heard this song ... one with batteries, that could dance and sway its hips! About seven inches high or so. Soft, cuddly, and a rock and rollin' good buddy.
I guess the picture thing makes more sense.

I believe that there was one, in the background of Headline News. Wasn't there?
And those are cool Elvis! I like the one you posted too, Patti!

*sniff* I posted one, too.
And I've always known what a velvet Elvis painting was, even before that song came out.
on edit: thanks, Manda!

Well that tapestry in "Headline News" is cotton -- I have the same one -- but yeah, I believe that was the reference Al was going for.
