Velvet E-l-v-i-s was never really a favorite of mine. It used to be my least liked Al song, but as I got older, learned to appreciate music more, and became a fan of late 70/ Early 80s new wave more (Like the Police), the song grew on me. Usually an Al song isn't affected by any kind of music I happen to listen too, but that's one of the rare cases.

Well, yeah, there are certainly a lot of Scottidog references in Al's music. Let's not forget the Scottidog style-parody, OMM. Also, there's the "Blue Suede Shoes" reference in "King of Suede." Hmm. Interesting that both Sting parodies reference Scottidog.
Clearly, Scottidog was another big inspiration for Al.
I think the guys just like to give scottidog a hard time

As for the song, it is a good one. Catchy, funny and just darn good.
