This is definitely one of Al's...normalest songs, despite how zany it is. I always feel the true message to this song is that Al wanted a family.

Yeah, when you look deep inside this song, you don't just see vital organs and bones. You see a message. A tiny speck of hope. And that makes this song just... beautiful. ;(

Well, yeah, he wanted a family. But I'm also impressed by how Al captured the feeling of a multiple-child family on vacation (and there's a lot of affection in the send-up here) considering that he was an "only."

Ah, this song is definitely one of my favorites. I usually only crack a smile after hearing Al's songs once, but I always laugh at Bernie running off with the camera.

I like the fact that the song has the perfect balance of silliness and an actual story.

This is probably the song that made me start to be completely obsessed with Al, and not a casual fan who only likes the most popular songs of his. It's fairly long, but still has a story, and is funny.

Someone else proudly overanalyzing BBOTM: http://scienceblogs.com/builtonfacts/20 ... mmentsArea

In case you've ever lain awake at night wondering whether the Twine Ball WOULD reach all the way to Fargo, North Dakota if it were unraveled.

I have in fact wondered about this, but I feel like the better way to do it would be to look online and find out if anyone knows how long, in miles, the BBOTIM actually is. That would answer the question far more accurately.

This is such a great song! I love the melody and I love Al's songs that tell a story. I always have little movies in my head!
