i love funzone..and whenever i listen to it it reminds me of my past concert experiences..i remember in LA me and my parents waited for a long time..and i knew it was coming close to the show..the comedian of the night had just finished her act..and i was waiting..so excited..and then funzone came on really loudly...and it just got me even more worked up...its fun.

The only thing with Funzone at shows, is it starts blasting out of almost nowhere, and it scares the crap out of me every time! On the other hand, that's what makes it exciting, I guess!

I thought it was written for an NBC show. Was it Fridays? I can't remember...

I believe it was written for a show called "Welcome to the Funzone," in which the Good Doctor was involved.

Yeah, it was written for that show, but was never used. I guess Al found some kind of use for it, or thought it was worthy of being released on an album, which I'm so glad he did.
And Dr. Demento was indeed a big part of that show

The show was a summer replacement for SNL, IIRC. Al sang ILOJ on there.

HAHA! Same here! I'll be sitting there after the opening act counting. "Well it's been 20 minutes....Well it's been 21 minutes....Well it's been ::and FZ starts:: OMG!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH! Oh, it's Fun Zone!" Mom gets a kick out of the fact that I practically jump when it scares the crap out of me!
