Re: Trigger Happy
Anyone else assume that Fluffy was a dog (probably a poodle or a miniature one) the first time they heard this song? (before Al sang that he was a "kitty cat").
Reading through old song topics on here, and that memory just came back to me.

Re: Trigger Happy
Some genius originality going on there in the music and the lyrics but it is clearly an homage to the Boys.
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars!!

This is a good song, but I have to take issue with you on its "originality"...Yankomaniac wrote:Some genius originality going on there in the music and the lyrics but it is clearly an homage to the Boys.

Now, obviously, the concept of originality is a little skewed when talking about style parodies, and Trigger Happy clearly draws from Skeet Surfin' as inspiration. But can you style parody a comedy song that's already a style parody, or are you just being derivative of an existing comedy idea?

Jon HAS a point. I mean, to make an original, you just GOTTA have a starting point... No such thing as "originality" in a style PARODY.

Re: Trigger Happy
Hold on, Heds. That's not at all the point I was making!!
Of course you can be original in doing a style parody, just pointing out that in this case Al was just doing his own version of an existing style parody rather than coming up with a concept on his own.

Re: Trigger Happy
I was referring to the comedic lines, and some of the leads Jim added to the original style. There has been quite a few variations of the original. One in European Vacation when they're in Paris is interesting.
