I love Trigger happy. My wifes uncle is one of those gun nuts and this song reminds me of him. The song was around before I met him but still. I have some guns and am for gun rights, but even I think that we should keep guns away from nuts if you know what I mean.

I would have to agree with Bermuda on this one. Trigger Happy is simply a funny song. While it may express Al's view on gun control (or it may not), I tend to believe that Al intended it to get laughs from both sides. People who believe in gun control can find it funny, as can people who don't.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

I read somwhere that Trigger Happy was a style parody based on all Beach music, not just the Beach Boys. After all, Frankie Avalon, Jan and Dean and others were all i the same genre. I like it also, but it's not as good as.........

It's funny that Al mentioned Jan & Dean... I don't hear much of that in "Trigger Happy" (there's that bit in "Everything You Know Is Wrong" that sounds much more like non-Beach Boys surf music to me, but I'm no musician). But "Trigger Happy" is Beach Boysian enough to make Brian Wilson green with envy.

"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

I definitely hear the "Back in the USSR" influence you mention. Of course, that song is a style parody of the Beach Boys, so it makes sense.
