Traffic Jam?

So, I have heard forever now, about Prince not allowing Al to parody one of his songs, but as my work has been playing the 80's station of XM... I keep hearing this prince song that... it's not exact, but pretty dang close to Traffic Jam. Maybe this is old news but I didn't know if he did this to get it past prince without him knowing? But then again he's still asking him, so I don't know. Unless Al is waiting for this:

Prince: "Fine, you can do it."
AL: "GREAT! Guess what? I DID IT IN 1993!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!"

... though I don't think Al would do THAT.

Is the song you're talking about "Let's Go Crazy"? 'Cuz if so, It really does sound like "Traffic Jam" sans the beginning... Other than that, it's almost exactly the same song! It's hilarious that Weird Al got away with it. ;)

I always assumed Al did that intentionally. Just one of those songs (like "Santa Went Crazy") that step precariously along the line of style parody/true parody.

Can I ask why? It's far from Al's best work, but it's also far from his worst in my mind.

It's a bit too long and it seemed rushed to me. Also what do you consider his best and worst?
