I thought it was common knowledge. I've had gypsy-descendant friends asking people not to use the word "gypped"

I hope you don't think the synonym "jewed" is acceptable too.

 I... Well, first of all, how is "jewed" a synonym?

Furthermore, where do you get the idea that I think it would be an acceptable term?

They both are racist/anti-Semitic ways of saying "cheated" or "ripped off" because of stereotypes that have persisted about Jewish people and Romani being cheap or greedy. And I didn't think you personally thought "jewed" was acceptable, I was just saying that "gypped" isn't any less offensive.
See http://meloukhia.net/2011/02/language_m ... jewed.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; among other places.
Nonetheless, I really went too far that time in stating my point about the word "gypped," and I feel kind of bad for at least momentarily turning the one and only "Bad Hair Day" Topic into an argument on ethnic slurs.

Yeah I wasn't trying to say gypped is inoffensive. Just that it's become mainstreamed for better or worse. As you can see by the responses in this thread alone, many people use the word without realizing it is an ethnic slur.

I'll admit I'm guilty of it. But then again there really aren't any gypsies around NYC, so I had no clue.

Anyone ever notice that the hat Al is wearing on the cover looks kind of like the same one that Heisenberg wears in Breaking Bad?

This album was actually very good. It's definitely one of his bests. I love Callin' in Sick and Amish Paradise.
