I definitely hear the similarities. I had never heard any of his music before, so I never made the connection.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

Wow, I never knew Truck Drivin' Song was a style parody of a particular artist...I always thought it was just a spoof of country music in general.

I can see the similarities...and Dave Dudley even sang a song called "Truck Drivin' Son of a Gun."

Thanks for that info, Jon! :Y

Not only that, he calls it the "Truck Driving Song".

Actually, he calls it "Truck Drivin' Son of Gun." He just says the last part quickly.

Wow. Not only managed to take the "funny" out of a funny song, but also the "song" part.

I really like this song. Al's vocals in it is marvellous! If compared to, for instance, "She drives like crazy"- it becomes clear that Al has a great vocal range!
And also I used this song to introduce Al to my best friend (she is a part of LGBT community and has a great sense of humor  ) and it's her favourite Al's song now (well, I can't say she's a big fan, but she enjoys some of his work and certainly doesn't mind me talking about Al all the time :D ).

Try explaining this song to your 8 year old daughter. She actually listened to it for the first time I guess the other day in the car. I know it has played before in the past when we would listen to Al tunes but this day she is paying close attention to the songs and asks about it. I just told her it was about a guy who drives a big rig truck while obviously being dressed in women's clothing.

Okay, so you explained it to her perfectly with no problem at all? I don't get the issue.
I couldn't tell a dirt clod from a plate of caviar.
