I hope Al doesn't have a commercial. Look at The Who. Every other car commercial is The Who. It's very annoying. No pun intended, but The Who have really sold out.

Dick's Automotive

Post by Well, Well, Well »

After listening to this song a bunch of times now I just have to say this is way crazier and better than Albuquerque. This is just insane. I'd start a poll but I guess you still can only do that in that one stupid subforum.

Naaah, too weird and creepy. Doesn't hold a candle to Albuquerque.

Isn't there like a 10 page thread about this issue?

I would have loved to have been able to search for it.

Hmm...it also seems the Rugburns did a song at one point titled "Me and Eddie Vedder" which shares about a third of a title with ANOTHER original ("genre" style parody) from RWS...

It's probably too late to for me to add this, but I just listened to Dicks' Automotive for the first time last night. The similarities are more apparent in the lyrical structure than in the composition, IMO. It is quite a dark song, but I wouldn't call it "nightmare inducing."

I would also say that Albuquerque is a far better (and funnier) song. Al did a way better job of going on a funny pointless tanget (aside from "I. HATE. SAUERKRAUT!!!" obviously) and DA just seems to stay on a linear story structure for eight-and-a-half minutes with a clumsy attempt to tie up the loose ends of the Julie/Dick/Narrator love triangle. Albuquerque is just a far more creative absurdist song any wany you look at it. 'Nuff said.
