No kidding! I've tried singing the original on Karaoke Revolution. Yikes! :oo

"Jerry Springer" isn't quite as fun as "One Week" to sing along with, but Al's song is much funnier. Duh.

Does anybody know what the video footage of the spoken lines that appears in the WAY Live DVD is about? I can tell that Al is the man, but is this from a possible video for the song or something?

I think it was just something that Al put together for the tour. I know Al wanted to do a video for JS, and Jerry Springer himself even agreed to appear in it, but when he heard the song, he felt it was too mean-spirited. I don't think he ever started filming the video though.

Here's some other places where the lyrics are very similar

OW - you'll have to sign a waiver
JS - they have to sign a waiver

OW - I have a history of taking off my shirt
JS - They have a history of ripping off their shirts

I read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that it was footage that they filmed early for the video.

I don't know how accurate it is though.

That's what I assumed it was, but I wasn't sure.

Of all the Weird Al songs for my cousin to remember the words to, it's this one. I don't understand how; I'm the one who has Weird Al on his iPod, and my cousin knows more of the words than I do.

When I was younger, I took the line "I've got way too much class to watch Jerry Springer" literally, therefore seeing the protagonist of the song as a college slacker kid who watched too much of the namesake show and thus, didn't attend his classes. Of course, nowadays I realize what he really means by "class" - not that it negates the other possibility. Needless to say, not one of Al's more kid-friendly songs.
