This song was something of a dorm anthem for me and my friends in school.

One thing that popped in my mind when I was listening to this the other day...

I've always heard Al's life long dream getting a part time job at The Sizzler, but I realized he probably means he got a job working at the Sizzler (like the local branch of the restaurant.)

What is the other meaning of The Sizzler?
I couldn't tell a dirt clod from a plate of caviar.

The old restaurant chain simply known as "Sizzler." Was it a local branch of one of those, or a restaurant who's name is "The Sizzler," and isn't affiliated with the chain at all?

Oh, I always assumed he meant the chain and the use of "the" is to suggest that he's referring to "the Sizzler on Menaul Blvd" or whichever location.
