ahem... the album's done...
That's right, as of April 18th, "Poodle Hat" is completely mixed and mastered and on its way to being manufactured!
I think I made a post in here not quite a month ago, where I stated that we hadn't gone back in the studio yet, and despite a mysterious date of May 20th that was posted at weirdal.com at the time and presumed to be an album release date, how it would take a tremendous amount of effort to crank out 5 or 6 songs from scratch and wrap up everything in time to have an album on the shelves in literally 2 months... remember?
Well, I was telling the truth. We hadn't gone back yet (although we were about to on March 21,) and it was a tremendous amount of work! The band cranked out all the remaining basic tracks the first day, but that was just the beginning of non-stop, 12+ hour days for Al, who had allowed literally 27 days to cut those tracks, sing all of his parts, coordinate overdubs and additional instrumentation, and mix the songs - a seven day process itself - in order to meet an April 18th deadline to master Poodle Hat and get it into Zomba's hands by April 21st for release on May 20th!
Anyway, hats off to Al for sticking his neck out by announcing a release date before we were under way, and for actually making it all happen on schedule.
Al's very proud and happy with this album, and I think it represents everyone's best work.
And just so you know, as delicious and ostensible as a May 27th release might have sounded to everyone, Zomba (Al's label's parent label) only releases its products every other Tuesday - the next available release date would have been June 3rd.
You guys are gonna love Poodle Hat!

This is great!!
Thank you for explaining the May 27 thing, I thought it should be released then, but I really don't want to wait any longer for it.
So are you going to reveal the first letters like you did for RWS or anything like that? Or will we have to wait till we're buying it to know what's on there?

Oh, you just didn't want my prediction to come true.
Seriously, though, this is great news. I think it's a credit to how well all of you guys work together to be able to pull something like this off....not that I had any doubts. I know many of us don't even need to listen to the album to already be proud of you.
But still, congrats on yet another finished album! And thanks for the update!
Eagerly awaiting the 20th....

Whew... thanks Bermuda. Those are really the greatest news for all of us today.
You see, the problem is that most of us fans became real fans somewhere in 1999-2000, when all ALbums were released, so we haven't follow up Al's work for those years. But now, things have changed when we found out that new album is gonna be there. We've done thousands posts and predictions, discussing our fears, figuring out new parodies and songs and polkas...(
, by the way). But you have removed our doubts. Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's great--congrats on what I'm sure will be a job well done. And I'm sure you already know how much everyone appreciates what you guys put into this.
Now I just have to be careful when it is released--when RWS came out, I popped it into the CD player in my car and got about five minutes from the store when a helpful police officer reminded me I shouldn't get too carried away when listening to a new album by giving me this little reminder slip he called a "speeding ticket". D'oh!

Wow... what a trooper! Sounds like everyone put a lot in to this one. Congratulations on finishing the album!

Yeah, that would've been cool... but, hey, this is close enough!

Undoubtedly! I know I'm anxious to hear it. Once again, congratulations on finishing Poodle Hat!

Hey Hey Hey Its Dr Decay!
Well thats cool, that the album will be out as promised. This might sound a bit strange, but a week before Poodle Hat arrives on shelves, the new Marilyn Manson album is also going to be released May 13, which I am also going to buy. However, considering I do work at a High School Radio Station, I might get Marilyn Mansons album for free. But I am still going to buy Poodle Hat. Darn it! It is soo hard to type with a band-aid on my finger.
