I wish I knew. You pretty much have to be in the industry to have all access to Soundscan data. The only reason I knew of those two was because someone on a music message board who
did have some sort of Soundscan-related account was posting a "here's what needs to be certified" list. Sadly, nothing more concerning Al was ever posted.
Volcano/Jive had ordered audits before the release of the last two albums. I don't know if those were done to specifically coincide with the album releases (in order to beef up Al's sales numbers for press releases) or if they just luckily worked out that way. But as I said, the last time the RIAA reported any numbers on Al was in early 2008, so who knows what the reason is. It's probably a costly procedure and it could just be that the label is spacing out their audits more.
It seems as if Al keeps track of how well his music is selling through his royalties, so if he saw some huge influx of sales for x album he could probably beg and plead for the label to order an audit...but at the same time, surely he would want to see his only Grammy-winning album go Gold, right?
