I thought the song was funny in the sense that it was written
before the war. I.E. This is what we thought of the French BEFORE the war...atleast, you CAN take it that way.
Not being a big Zappa fan(very conservative on my music
) I didn't recognize hardly any of the references except the part about not being able to dance, the reference to Zappa's apperance(atleast, it sounded like a good description of him), the sheikest of the sheik(is that a reference to his LP "Sheik Yerbouti"?), GREAT GOOGILY MOOGILY! and the best "I WAS A DANCIN' FOOL!!" (from the movies)
I'm guessing the BLIMP was a reference to Frank too, but I've only heard 5 of Frank's songs(Dancin' Fool, Hebrew Rap[is that his?], Don't Eat the Yellow Snow/Nanook Rubs it, and Uncle meat[from "Strictly Genteel"])
Oh I admit he's a genius in the way he performs his music, but like I said, I'm pretty conservative on what I listen to.
I think the best thing is listening to the INSTRUMENTAL and then hearing out of the bleu, the famous French laugh
Hoh hoh hoh!
