I know this is song is a Sparks (no "The") style parody. But what songs did Al use as influence?
I totally agree with "This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us" from the 1974 album "Kimono My House". My husband thinks there's a little bit of "Sextown U.S.A." from the 1982 album "Angst In My Pants."
Just A Tidbit on Sparks:
Sparks isn't just an obscure band, they've been around since the early 70s, they're originally from Los Angeles, went to England where they received much praise, and still record in Los Angeles but rarely do any concerts in the USA.
They just recently released their 21st Album, In fact in May & June on this year they did a 21-night "Sparks Spectacular" in London, where for each night they performed an album in its entirety (and then some.)
Sparks isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
btw... I think it would be totally awesome if Al ever does this song live, and as a guest performer has Ron Mael on keyboards. (ala Ben Folds on WDTAHTM during Summerfest)

You're gonna take a walk in the rain and you're gonna get wet... I predict.
