I think it's legal... hence the "legal" sounds, I'm not sure, but I think someone told me that it's legal because they pay the artist.

Sites that sell music for $2 an album are legal...
In their native country. A lot of those sites are Russian, where doing that is perfectly legal. The RIAA can't bust them for it for that reason. Some of the money is going to Al but of course, a majority goes to that website.
Ever heard that file sharing is completely legal in Canada? To compensate for it, an extra tax was added onto CD-Rs and CD-RWs. It's like that.

Practically, everyone downloads something (except me, the real nerd) who buys the cds like I know I should. + my computer is lousy anyway, putting useless programs on it junks it up more than it has to be.
