NH Weird Al Fan wrote:Did anyone notice that Rubén is unfriending a lot of people on Facebook? My son mentioned that he and I were both unfriended, and I've noticed several Al fans that aren't on his friend list anymore, either. I posted a comment asking about it, and he sent me this message :

"I am slowly changing my approach to Facebook and taking a new direction please don't take it personally."

I feel like he probably has realized that having so many "friends" just clutters his newsfeed, whereas people can "follow" him, and still see his posts. It helps from getting an influx of Al fan comments on every personal photo he posts. I don't blame him if that's the case. Like he said, don't take it personally.

I'm glad I saw this before I checked my fb page. I'm dropped, as well. I'm already having a hard time because a person who is a member of WOWAY and was my friend on fb and twitter unfriended and blocked me, and it's hurting me because I don't know what I did to her, since we only ever shared hash tag games and Al related posts. Oh, well, who knows what people are thinking?

I believe we can still respond to his posts, because the like, comment and share buttons are still there. I can see his point if he's inundated with tons of posts on his page on a daily basis.

Thanks for mentioning this. Y'all have a good night.

Ruben unfriended me after I accidentally sent him an invite to something lol.

People on Facebook are just weird about friends sometimes. I've only ever unfriended one person, but I've been unfriended several times. I don't take it personally, because it's most likely just other people taking the activity of their FB friends too seriously. When I realized we didn't talk much, I figured that was why, but then again, friendship is a two-way street.

Ruben stated several times that he would unfriend you if you sent him invites. Its a shame he is deleting a lot of people though, he always posted interesting things

I have never friended him, as I can get all his updates by simply "following" him, which I suggest everyone can do

Social media can really be a pain in the butt. People take it too seriously and spend their entire lives on it, seemingly. All I have is Twitter and I don't even bother interacting with anyone anymore because people simply don't know how to behave on there, it seems. I just look to see what a few people I follow are up to, and that's it.

As for this stuff with Ruben, it sounds like he has a "regular" Facebook page like any of us would have. Is that correct? I'm really surprised that he doesn't have one of those "entertainer" / "celebrity" ones, because then there's no "friends" and stuff like that.

Yes, he has a regular page, as do Steve, Jim and Jon. Al is the only one who doesn't.

I thought so. In that case, it can really become tedious to deal with your timeline, then. It's probably easier to hit unfriend than to figure out the settings for "don't show status updates from this person." It's been forever since I've had one, so I don't even know if that's a thing. I just remember the "hide this post from my timeline" setting.

Yeah, and I can imagine the time it would take for celebs to hide each post. I'm just glad they leave it where we can comment on and/or share their posts.
