Oh man, sorry Animator55, I'll be staying with friends in Long Beach. The hotel does look nice, though.

Kristine, I think you'll be easy to find. I've seen you on tv!

It's cool, I'm going to see if I could stay with anyone in the area before I book the room, I just thought I'd ask :)

So, what's the final count? Who's going for sure? Anyone going to the banquet Saturday night? I'm still debating... but I think Mitch (the guy running this thing) wants me there to take pictures.

I'll be pretty easy to spot- look for my big camera! I'll be moving around taking pictures from the side and possibly back of the stage... so I really can't be that hard to pick out.

Greg and I are going. I must have missed something about a Saturday night banquet?

I thought I was going to be in a glass fusing class that weekend but I was able to change it to tomorrow and this Sunday instead. I'll be the one with glass cuts and kiln burns ;-).

Cheers, Diva

The banquet is Saturday night at Dukes in Malibu, RSVP by the 14th by fax only. It's $40/plate. More info on the festival website.

I decided to fork over the 40 (no pun intended)- a small fee to pay for a great networking opportunity and yummy hawaiian food.

I'll be at the festival, but not the banquet/reception.

Here's a nice article (in my local newspaper) about the slack key festival.

With some interview quotes from Jim. 8)

The reception was a lot of fun!!

It was from 6-10PM at Duke's in Malibu. Almost all of the performers were there- I'd say about 75%. The food was really good- I sampled a little bit of everything. I spent a lot of time chatting with the other photographers, and I also talked to some of the other performers. A highlight of the evening was when Bill Tapia walked in the room. Kimo didn't know he was coming, and seemed pretty excited about it. He introduced me to Bill, and I shook his hand. I also got a picture with him. Later in the evening, the performers that were there took turns singing and playing on the stage. Bill performed, too! I got some good pictures of everyone.

It's been a veeeeery long day- I got up at 4AM to catch a 6:45AM flight down here. It's now just past midnight. I need to get some sleep.

Sounds great, Kristine.

Didn't get there due to this "parenting" thing - sick kid! - but am looking forward to hearing about the show.
