I don't know if this is a repeat post, but Jim is performing in Hollywood soon. Here's the info:

An Evening of Slack Key Guitar and Traditional Hawaiian Music with Jim "Kimo" West, Friday March 11th, 8 -10 PM at

Kulak's Woodshed
5230 1/2 Laurel Canyon Blvd.
North Hollywood

Best known as long-time guitarist with musical parodist, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Jim's love affair with "slack key" goes back twenty years. He has performed at numerous slack key festivals in Hawaii and is due to release the follow up to his first CD, "Coconut Hat". Special guests and maybe even some traditional hula!

You must sign up 24 hours in advance for a $2 lifetime Kulak's membership. (What a deal!)

If you can't make it, tune in for the live webcast:

Can any WOWAYers make it to the show?

:) Tara Lyn

That's cool that there's gonna be a live broadcast.
I just took a look on the site and watched the live broadcast--some weird lady playing piano and singing about...stuff--and it was actually pretty good quality video/sound so I guess it will kind of make up for me not being able to go!

Thanks for sharing that, Tara Lyn! :)

I attended one Hawaiian festival Jim played and it was really nice. The music was beautiful. Everyone attending should have a great time!

If it hasn't changed and I'm thinking of the right place, Kulak's is a small, comfortable place with chairs and couches like you'd find in someone's living room. So my advice is get there early if you can :)

Yep, I used to watch Kulaks woodshed when I had a cable connection. They have a really decent digital connection. They had a couple of good performers that I saw, but mostly crappy weirdos. It's a pretty cool forum though. The atmosphere in there looks pretty cool.

Well...there is a follow-up out already. It's called Nurturing the Garden.

But, yea- Yay! New Jim CD!
