A little more digging and I finally found Steve's info at Dean's guitars.
Ladies, take a drool cup with you. There's a pic of Bedrock Steve and his Loincloth.
Oh, and Rick Derringer is there too.
Since when did he "discover" Al?

what the heck is a ethnomusicologist? According to that site thats what steve jay is. OE, can you clear this up for me?

An ethnomusicologist is someone who studies the music of other cultures. In Steve's case it's West African.

Wait... literally the same drums for 18 years? Or just the same model? Man it's late
I've been playing Impact drums for 18 years, and the particular kit on tour has been in use 10 years. And I have others that I use in the studio and in town (the touring kit stays packed up between tours.)

Yes, that is a "most interesting" picture of Steve, he seems way too comfortable in that outfit, doesn't he?
Didn't Rick Derringer produce Al's first few albums? That does not exactly amount to discovering, though........
