Strangely enough, while CDs have been slowly fading away, vinyl sales have been going up steadily since 2008. (Which is one of the reasons we're seeing a vinyl release of Alpocalypse.) Hooray for hipsters!

With vinyl seeing it's highest sales EVER in 2010 since the inception of SoundScan in 1991.

I went to Broders and they didn't have it so I just placed an order in their store. My copy should be here by Friday.

I was on a cruise two weeks ago, and I counted 5 people with discmans. Who remembers them? Obviously people are still buying the CDs for their discmans.

When I went to Sanity today, which is the main "CD shop" in the town I'm from, they had....2 copies. One of The CD version, and one of the CD/DVD version. Wanna know something fun? In Australia, we don't get the DigiPak. There's no huge difference between the two versions, apart from the tracklisting on the back of the case, and the "2 discs" on the, um....the front of the spine? (Does that make sense?)

When I got to Sanity, they hadn't put the cases out on display, so I had to go up and ask if they had it in. So yeah, they did and handed it to me, and luckily I glanced at the back of the CD and asked "Is this the one with the DVD?" because, yeah, it was just the CD version, but the CD/DVD version looked exactly the same, with no huge obvious "TWO DISC EDITION FEATURING 10 ANIMATED MUSIC VIDEOS ON DVD" like there was with Straight Outta Lynwood. So yeah, Al's label or whoever handled the Australian packaging really slacked off with Alpocalypse, doing very little to promote the DVD version. Really is a shame.

I think I might still have my discman in a drawer somewhere in my room.

I still have a Walkman....where's my copy of Alpocalypse on cassette? Why aren't the hipsters all over that one? :P

For the record, yes I do have an MP3 player....I'll get along fine without it :P

All I had to listen to Al on the way to the show I went to last month was a walkman my singer lent me, it needed a peice of tape to hold in the batteries but it did the trick. Felt good rocking UHF, Off The Deep End on cassette, felt like I was 7 years old all over again!
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars!!
