As soon as the first few notes hit, I instantly knew this was a Hanson style parody, and I only know like 2 or 3 Hanson songs. The beginning reminded me of "Where's The Love". I can't wait to hear Dana's take on this. Anyway I thought the lyrics were really clever and I was laughing out loud at quite a few of them. And maybe even I can relate to few.... Really though, Al hit a home run with this one. I can see it making its way onto a lot of people's top 10 lists easily.

I think it says a lot about my sh*tty life that it took 3 or four listens to work out that the guy was a bit half hearted about his relationship. I thought "aww how romantic.. how is it funny?" LOL

It doesn't involve death, but I'd say this is right up there with Christmas At Ground Zero in levels of grimdark.

I need to fess up: When I first heard this was a Hanson style parody, my immediate reaction was "Does Hanson have a style to parody?".

I mean no disrespect to Hanson (A sentence I never thought I'd say in 1997 ). While I'm still cold to them, I respect them for what they've been able to build off of a career which the music industry pretty much left for dead by the late 90s/early 00s, and they're starting to get the respect they've earned for it. Good for them

But yeah, like I said, I didn't know how it would translate to being "style parodied". That being said, with what little knowledge I have of Hanson outside of the song that shall not be named (The other early hits and the last couple songs that for all intents and purposes, put them back on the map in most people's minds), I was able to see it, and what that style was and how this worked. And it worked perfectly.
