Nor the Gilligan's Island theme song in Amish Paradise.
Besides, they're not copied, but it is a direct reference.

Re: CNR = "You Don't Mess Around With Jim" by Jim Croce?
Well when you think that the entire Jim Croce reference in the CNR song is put in there to try to emphasize the TOUGHNESS of CNR, then you see why it may have been put in...You Don't Mess Around With Jim used that "spit into the wind....tug on superman's cape...etc" to emphasize the toughness, and that song is known well enough that I'd understand why it's in there. But I wouldn't go as far as to say it's really doing much more than referencing it.

best post ever.FredHuggins wrote:There's a difference between style parody and lyrical reference. Al also references "Footloose" in Party at the Leper Colony, but that doesn't make it a Kenny Loggins style parody.

CNR Life of Reilly
Here are some clips of CNR himself, doing his autobiographical stage show "Life of Reilly." The "Circus" clip is pretty harrowing.

I really, really liked this song before last night.
Then, he did it in concert and I absolutely LOVED it. Then my friend was like, "Who's CNR?"

Yeah I really like the song live. Al just seems to put more passion into the song.HappyGilmore wrote:I really, really liked this song before last night.

Re: CNR
By the way, who edited the verse out? JibJab or Al?
Cause he does the full version in concert and on the album, so I was just a bit curious. I know Al doesn't like anyone else editing his stuff, so I'd assume he did it? I never heard any reasonings behind it.

Re: CNR
I think JibJab. Probably didn't feel like animating the whole song, I dunno.
