I suggest a new countdown with only songs released on an album.

Why? The highest unreleased song was #68 ("You're Pitiful"). It really wouldn't have made much difference.

+1

I'm really shocked that the song didn't make the list at all. It's a terrific song. Other ones that I'm surprised didn't show up include "I'm So Sick of You," "Spy Hard," and especially "Buy Me A Condo."

The thing is, though, I think a lot of people really enjoy each of these songs, along with a lot of others that didn't make the list. But I guess everybody just has AT LEAST 20 songs they like more than each of those.

I agree that disallowing unreleased songs wouldn't have made much of a difference, and it also wouldn't have been fair to songs like "You're Pitiful" and "Theme From Home Improvement." But we could more accurate results if we had everybody rank ALL of Al's songs, and then use the same scoring method. Of course, then we'd have to deal with the issues of what constitutes a unique song worthy of a unique ranking on the list (like "Albuquerque" vs. "Albuquerqe Live"). And then it would also be incredibly difficult to rank every single song, not to mention the difficulty in tallying the scores. But yeah, that would give us a much more accurate ranking of the songs, even if it's completely impractical to actually pull off. :P

...if you do it by hand. I can think of several ways this could be done with a small database on a website, but it would still take a moderate amount of effort in setting it up.

Also, the fact that I'm even considering doing it makes me kinda worried.

Actually, by "top 10" I meant "top 20".

I feel a bit bad about some of those songs that didn't make the list. We all have our favorites, and could only nominate 20 songs. Our list of favorites outnumbers the 20 song limit, so many of our favorites couldn't be nominated. I feel bad about not nominating more songs from "Weird Al" Yankovic, Polka Party, and Straight Outta Lynnwood, and feel bad about not nominating anything from UHF or Bad Hair Day.

Maybe we hould have a simialr thread where we nominate the 10-20 best songs that weren't nominated.

Just for fun, I tallied up the points for each album:

13. Polka Party! - 238
12. other - 239
11. "Weird Al" Yankovic - 240
10. Alapalooza - 257
9. UHF - 365
8. Even Worse - 427
7. In 3-D - 431
6. Poodle Hat - 522
5. Bad Hair Day - 547
4. Off the Deep End - 566
3. Straight Outta Lynwood - 698
2. Dare to Be Stupid - 711
1. Running with Scissors - 849

"Other" includes all non-album songs except alternate versions, which I lumped in with the regular versions. Oh, and I didn't include any points for CCT. :P
