Hey Twinkies Are Yucky

Whaddaya look like?

I'll be wearing my "Make The Rock Hall" Weird T-shirt, and that is me in my avatar (Although I don't normally dress like that or have my hair like that). I am dyeing my hair blue as well, so that should make me easy to spot. Come say "hi".

Thank you to everyone who's stepping up so quickly to volunteer.

The web site is all finally updated with information on this new project, and the newer FAQ page should answer a great deal of questions about what to do and how to help, etc.

In addition to folks volunteering to help out with the actual videotaping, I'm also going to need volunteers for a new pre-concert position, the "runners." These need to be local fans in relation to the concert who will be willing in the weeks before the show to drop fliers off at local stores that would be of interest to Al fans (record/CD shops, comic book stores, etc.). This will be quite a legwork-heavy job and they need to know the area well. If you're just going to breeze into town for the night as a part of your tour-chasing, then this is not the task for you.

And you know what we haven't had in a while? A roll call!

Greetings, Greg!

Just letting you know that I just added the Make the Rock Hall "Weird" campaign to Weird Al's Wikipedia article. I hope what I've put is satisfactory, but you can feel free to add or change anything you think is missing or crappy.

Thank you, Grom, the section looks good. The only thing I tweaked was one of the years that were listed (didn't want to alter too much in order to avoid being accused of using the site to self-promote), but otherwise nice job! :Y

And remember, everyone, there are still plenty of concert dates that still need video volunteers. :)

No, no, and no. The Rock Hall museum has nothing to do with the induction process (as odd as that sounds). Anyone who writes to the museum itself will get a form letter from Terry's office that pretty much says "[ARTIST YOU NAMED] is great but the induction process is big and complicated. Thank you for writing."

Folks, you only need to write to the Rock Hall Foundation at the address posted above and on the campaign web site (no e-mails; no calling...we're not looking to harass them). Writing separately to Jann Wenner (especially at the exact same address) or to each individual member of the nominating committee is just redundant. Everyone's energy needs to be focused soley on writing to Joel Peresman at the Rock Hall Foundation address; he'll forward induction-related mail to the nominating committee.

I hate to sound like a hard-case about this, but I don't want people going on wild goose chases with their letters. We need people to sit down and write thoughtful, sincere letters. Sending them to the Rock Hall Foundation is the only guaranteed way that they will be read and forwarded; there is no guarantee with writing to people individually, as a lot of these folks have people who open their mail and will gladly throw away things without a second thought; I do not want people to waste their time or work.

Speaking of getting the word out about the letters, though, in addition to the video volunteers on this tour, we will also need people before concerts passing out fliers with the Rock Hall address on it. So if you want to help out in a very low-tech way, let me know. :)
