Fran Drescher Robs Cradle in New Show

Monday, January 24, 2005

LOS ANGELES — Fran Drescher draws liberally from real-life experience in her upcoming comedy series "Living With Fran."

She portrays an older woman who dates a man in his 20s. Drescher herself dated a man 16 years her junior for four years.

One episode echoes a scene where her boyfriend's father and stepmother came over for a visit and the stepmom was two years younger than Drescher. She rifled through her closet to find something tie-dyed to look younger.

In another show, Drescher learns that the live-in boyfriend is secretly hanging on to his old apartment in case something goes wrong.

"In the series, eventually he gives up the apartment by the end of the episode because our love is true," she told reporters Saturday. "In real life, he kept the apartment and now he's back in it."

What do you guys have against Judy? Granted, she's annoying, but she's still very funny.

..and Ed McMahon and Drew Carey were on last night's Tonight Show.

NBC and Jay Leno deserve a lot of credit for rising to the occassion.

Paris Hilton was the originally scheduled guest last night. She embodies the antithesis of everything Johnny Carson was about.

I was impressed by that also, El ... I was also happy to see Bob Newhart and Don Rickles on the show. It was a very classy and touching hour of television.

I had initially tuned into David Letterman last night, to see what he would have to say ... but his show was a repeat.
