For a while now I have wondered how the ranking system works

I assume this is the order in which you get the rankings:
Newbie
Occasional
Regular
Die hard fan
Addicted
Obsessed
Off The Deep End
Deliriously dedicated
Be jealous

There are a few ranks that are blurry:
Thanks patti only used by Algonachick
Silver suit adage do used by scotti dog
Blue be jealous used by administrators

Could someone please explain how it works

It's by post count mostly. Off the Deep End is a standard rank, but Be Jealous is for mods/admins.

It's by post count almost entirely. To be a bit more exact...

0-26 posts gives you the rank of Newbie
27-226 gives you Occasional.
227-349 is Regular
350-499 is Die-Hard Fan
500-1026 is Addicted
1027-2699 is Obsessed
2700+ is Off The Deep End

I can't find any exact evidence of how many posts give you Deliriously Dedicated, but rough estimates put it to be somewhere around 7500. Be Jealous is a admin/mod only title, Thanks Patti, I'm guessing, is because she's the top poster on the forum with almost double that of the next highest poster here. Other customn ones I would guess are special titles given out by mods for some reason or another. I don't see that Yankomaniac has Off The Deep End Rises as their title, so I dunno what that's about.
