Aw man...that's way across the country from me. ;(

Even though I didn't vote for IL in the poll, I think that would be the best place for the party since that's where AlCon was.

Well... it is HIS birthday, and all his friends and family are there, who might have plans of their own. I think, considering its a birthday and not a fan-convention type thing, that he probably wouldn't be into travelling out of town too far.
I know he's fond of his fans, but there are limits...

Well we can see how the poll turns out, and then we can somehow ask Al what he thinks about the location.

Hm...

I know Suzanne has a Myspace, maybe once we get planning done, we could send the idea to her through there???

Of course AFTER we swear her to secrecy :stern:

I'd like to point out that Al does read the forum, so secrecy would be a bit... pointless.
Sever your leg, please. It's the greatest day.

If we keep all discussion within this topic, we might be ok. Hopefully Al doesn't read this topic...it would be a bit like opening your christmas presents early. or something.

I can't see how a massive party is going to work, if it's open to everyone. Al will get swamped with fans wanting autographs and photos, it would be like giant meet and greet.
The tsunami of immediacy will wash away the flood of grief, and reveal a layer of naive optimism underneath

Not if we worked it like AlCon. Of course, there were several meet and greets during the course of the day, and other activities going on between times. I dunno. I probably won't be able to go, as will likely be the case for others as well.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!
