Polkas For The Holidays
Since Al had never made a Christmas-based polka medley (that would be a great idea for ALbum 14), I came up with it.
Deck the Halls
Let It Snow
White Christmas
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Jingle Bells
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
Joy To The World
It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
What Christmas Means to Me
Last Christmas
Frosty the Snowman
Custom Polkas

Re: Custom Polkas
We really do need a new polka. I imagine it'd have Set Fire To The Rain, Somebody That I Used To Know, Call Me Maybe, Friday, Like A G6... maybe with a solo beginning with "everyday i'm shuffling" with an interjection of "Barbra Streisand" at some point.
It doesn't matter if I do things for a reason, or on a W-H-I-M... Just stand back and enjoy the show, cuz baby, I perform this way!

Re: Custom Polkas
I wrote up a potential arrangement for a polka, if anyone's interested.
(Intro polka instrumental.)
I set fire
To the rain
And I threw us into the flames
When we fell, something died
Cuz I knew that was the last time
The last ti-i-ime
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
No you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
(Somebody)
That I used to know
(Somebody)
That I used to know!
It's gotta be you!
Only you!
Gotta be you!
Only you, only you, only you, only you, only you!
Well, I just saw Halley's comet shooting
Said why are you always running in place?
Even the man in the moon disappears
Somewhere in the stratosphere
Tell my mother, tell my father
I've done the best I can
To make them realise this is my life
I'm not angry, I'm just saying
Sometimes goodbye is a second chance!
I don't need to try to control you
Look into my eyes, I'll own you
With the moves like Jagger
I've got the moves like Jagger
I've got the mo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-oves like Jagger
(Signature Moves Like Jagger whistle, in polka form.)
Damn!
(Last Friday night)
Yeah we danced on table tops
And we took too many shots
Think we kissed but I forgot
(Last Friday night)
We maxed out our credit cards
And got kicked out of the bars
So we hit the boulevards
(Last Friday night)
We went streaking in the park
Skinny dipping in the dark
Then had a menage a trois
(Last Friday night)
Yeah I think we broke the law
Always say we're gonna stop
Woah-oh!
Do it all again!
Do it all again!
Do it all again!
'Cuz tonight
We are young
So let's set the world on fire
We can burn brighter than the sun!
(Woo, woo, woo!)
Tonight
We are young
So let's set the world on fire
We can burn brighter
Than
The
Sun!
(Instrumental break! I'm imagining the instrumental break is This Land Is Your Land, except as a polka. I don't care that it's a non sequitir. The entire concept is already a non sequitir. Halfway through, all the music cuts out.)
Barbra Streisand!
(The instrumental break continues and finishes.)
Like a G-6, like a G-6
Now I'm feeling so fly like a G-6
Like a G-6, like a G-6
Now I'm feeling so fly like a G-6!
I see you driving 'round town with the girl I love and I'm like
Forget you!
I guess the change in my pocket wasn't enough, I'm like
Forget you and forget her too!
Said if I was richer, I'd still be with ya
Ha, ain't that some sh? (Ain't that some sh?)
And though there's pain in my chest I still wish you the best
With a forget you-ooh-ooh-ooh-ohh!
Oh, I swear to ya
I'll be there for ya
This is not a drive-by-y-y!
Just a shy guy, looking for a two-ply
Hefty bag of freeze-dried lo-o-o-o-o-o-ove
When you move me
Everything is groovy
They don't like it sue me
Ooh, the way you do me
Oh, I swear to ya
I'll be there for ya
This is not a drive-by-y-y-y-y!
HEY!
I just met you
And this is crazy
But here's my number
So call me maybe
And all the other boys
Are tryin' to chase me
But here's my number
So call me maybe!
Haters, said I'll see you later
Can't talk to you right now
I'm getting my paper
Said I'm doing big things
Things you never dreamed of
I hope you are happy
'Cuz I'm bout to blow up!
(Explosion sound effect.)
Go make some new disaster!
That's what I'm counting on!
You're someone else's problem!
Now I only want you gone!
Now I only want you gone!
Now I only
Want
You
Gone!

Re: Custom Polkas
Introducing...
CLASSIC 2013 POLKA!
A polka medley of non-classic rock songs from the classic rock era that you don't want to hear... unless they get polkafied, of course!
"Easy" by Commodores (has a "fake out" opening like Polka Your Eyes Out's "Cradle of Love", The Alternative Polka's "Loser", and even the start of Bohemian Polka)
"Dancing Queen" by ABBA
"I Can See Clearly Now" by Johnny Nash
"Sugar Sugar" by The Archies
"In The Summertime" by Mungo Jerry
"Shake Shake Shake" by KC & The Sunshine Band
"Don't Leave Me This Way" by Thelma Houston
"Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond (sung by Tom Kenny in his Spongebob voice)
"Back Stabbers" by O'Jays
"We Are Family" by Sister Sledge
"Can't Take My Eyes Off You" by Frankie Valli
"When Will I See You Again" by Three Degrees
"Reach Out I'll Be There" by Four Tops
"You're The First, The Last, My Everything" by Barry White

Literally none of these songs were in the new polka. I feel like this makes it a good idea to find someone who can do such a thing and record it. ;DPlayAWarGame wrote: Set Fire To The Rain - Adele

Oops, forgot "Call Me Maybe", but that's it. (Yeah, at least one other artist is in the new polka and my list, but it's not the same song, so, ).Big Spoon wrote:Reread that list. Some of those are in the new polka.
EDIT: And "Somebody That I Used To Know", but to be fair it went by so fast in the new polka that I don't blame myself for forgetting it.

Alright, this post was really funny, but to be fair I wasn't mistaken about the definition of literally, just didn't cross-check my facts well enough.Bruce the Duck wrote:This post makes me want to do something with a crowbar...PlayAWarGame wrote:
