Oh, that's true. If Al played an elf (or 27) we'd have to watch Santa kill him again and again and again and again, and then we'd all hate Santa to death, and then we'd get no more presents ever in our whole entire lives. It would be much better to have them played by people who we would enjoy watching explode. So:

Elves:
The artist formally known as Prince
The Real Slim Shady
Coolio
A CBS representative
Jimmy Kimmel
oh, and that Best Buy rep.

If that's not enough, we could duplicate Prince several times.

I love the old school man show with Adam and Jimmy. Joe Rogan should take Jimmy Kimmel's place as an elf. (yech, I hate Fear Factor)

And DMX should be an elf too.
