QUOTE (AL look-AL-ike @ Nov 7 2003, 03:36 PM) Okay, you got the cast. Now let's talk about the plot. Let me pitch this one:

Evil Tourist Attraction Developer, Artemis Sleezleton (played by Christopher Walken) has been buying up the Mom-and-Pop attractions (he most recent development; the Poodle Rock Casino and the Elvis-A-Rama Adult Emporium. In short, he's a bad guy.) He has his sights on his next acqusistion, buying up all of the twine balls in the world and combining them to create the World's Largest Twine Ball! Bwahahahahaha! But our hero and his family learn of his evil plot during an innocent family vacation, and vow to stop him! The climax: The family dog (played by Eddie, the dog from Fraiser) accidently knocks the twine ball over, causing it to roll and threaten to crush the town! (A dog, A Panic, in a Pagoda!)

Anyone?

AL Look A Like, I would REALLY like to take that premise of yours and run with it. I'd like to turn it into a full blown multi-chapter narrative. But I'll only do it with your permission, since it was your idea. So, can I do it? Pleeeeeease! :)

Uh oh, now you've done it Bruce. I've got other plot lines going thru my head. Msg me and I can give you more details. It might help you with your project.

Examples:

the family makes an accidental detour into Albuquerque. (Then we finally get a music video for the song!)
The story involving the son and his feelings about being too old for these family trips, but in the end learns the importance of family.
The bad guys motivation: He had a bad experience at Disneyland and never had a family outing. He learns that family fun isn't about what you buy or how much you spend, but the time you spend with each other.
...and other stuff. Right now I'm on flood mode. I can't write this all down now.

I see a funny - feel good movie, perfect for Thanksgiving weekends.

See ya!

I've had all of those same ideas, actually, minus the Albuquerque one! All the characters will go through some growth in the story. There are also a few other characters I've added to the story. I'll start writing it tomorrow and post it as a separate thread.

I just finished reading chapter 1! That is a good story so far! I think (if this DOES make it to theaters) you should play TBBOTIM in the beginning sequence, and if there is a scene with him buying more twine, you could play Hardware Store!

Thanks, PWJ! It's taking me a long time to write it since I don't have much free time right now. But it's going to be very long when it's done. It's not a laugh a minute type story like UHF, but it'll have many funny moments. I have a specific scene in mind for actually using the song, but it's a LOOOONG way off...
