Weird Arts And Crafts

Post by scottidog »

This topic is going to be a little different than the Fan Art topic.

I know there are a few of us who make different arts/crafts/cookies in honor of The Great Weird One.

I'd like to use this topic to discuss not only what WAY items you make, but how they are made. F'rinstance, in the Tour Talk Forum, there was a thread about how to make your own Poodle Hat, and one discussing how to make Concert T-shirts.

If anyone is interested, I have a computer program that can turn photos/graphics into cross-stitch patterns, in case you want to make that beloved meeting Al photo into a wall hanging or throw pillow.

Someone on eBay regularly has an Al stained glass suncatcher up for auction. I would have bought it, but thought $10 was a little steep for a small item. Still may try sometime to get one.

I made a waxed Al before, all I really did was have a cookie cutter as the basic shape, light the candles, and drip the melted wax where I wanted it to be. It turned out very nice.

Then I made a snow Al, which all you know how to make. :P

I know how to make a snow glob, but how did you get Al in there?

I have an idea that I haven't actually used yet, but...

Michaels Arts & Crafts (and other craft stores too) sell blank Shrinky Dink sheets.

At some point, I'ma get some and make myself an Al keychain or two. The trick will be deciding which image to use -- but the joy of Shrinky Dinks is that I can just keep making them until they turn out the way I want them to!

I did the keychain thing. I have two keychains, but a picture on each side of Al. I put them on a chain that normally are used for dogtags.

Does anyone know if they have a shrinky dink that you can use with your inkjet printer?

Ah, the WAY possibilities would be endless. I'd love to make Album cover art earrings... The Placebo front and back would be WAY Moby!

I made a clay Al based on the Polka Party! cover.
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!
