Man, I am so late to the party. Is it too late for me to make a contribution to this?? I'd love to record something for the album if that is all possible.

The album- No
Bonus material- Totally!

If you want to record something for inclusion on the bonus material (and possibly on a special enhanced section on the disc of the album, if we like your song enough), go ahead and record it and send a link to a WAV file to [email protected]

Cool. I'm in talks with Jace (of Nuclear Bubble Wrap) and he's helping me rework the instrumentation of my four-year-old parody of Hardware Store.

Glad to be coming back to this, and glad to hear that the project still seems to be progressing nicely. Look forward to hearing the final results.

(I chipped in $42 before the Kickstarter page went up)

MC Lars still in on this?
I just heard of Shael Riley and the Double Ice Backfire, because they're playing a gig at RIT (the college I go to) on 2010.12.02 - maybe I can ask them to play Melanie. :P

Also, what opinion would y'all have on sharing the music with others once it gets into our hands?

As slow as it may be, it is indeed progressing.

MC Lars, as far as I know is still scheduled to be on the album. I haven't talked to him about it in a while, but he hasn't told me he was dropping out yet. He's on tour right now, so I imagine I'll hear more from him after all that's over.

I don't know, ask Shael, he might play it for you. I don't know if they have their arrangement down yet, but if they do, I hope someone is recording so that I can watch on the internets later.

This will all be under Creative Commons (unless any particular artist tells me otherwise).

Darn it, I forgot to ask Shael about Melanie. Maybe when I send him a fan email that I've been meaning to work on anyway.
The gears of progress turn slowly. :P

Ah, sorry. As it turns out Shael had to bow out of the album.

This looks like an awesome project, If you need, my band, Chasing Pink Elephants could submit something..... like an MTV unplugged version of one of Al's originals like "I'll Sue Ya" or something  Im sure we'd love to be involved somehow :)

I hope this goes ahead, iv heard some other planned tribute albums have fallen through in the past :(

Yeah, please go ahead and record anything you'd like. I can't guarantee it'll be on the album, but I can guarantee we'll use it for something (like bonus content). An unplugged I'll Sue Ya sounds neat. And yeah, I certainly hope this doesn't fall through. We've made a lot of good progress, like making a deal for half of Al's catalog with Ear Booker Entertainment. Sony/ATV Publishing Company is being difficult though.
