Rough drawings? I just always assumed he released the very first versions of whatever he drew.Killingsworth wrote:TMZ was in color and DDTS wasn't because with TMZ he had more time to actually finish his rough drawings or some such thing.

Guess I broke the tie - I liked DDTS video much better. TMZ's bothered me mainly because he focused entirely on one minor line - "flabby butt" - and not the main point of the song.

Both are awful. But DDTS attempts to convey the same message as the song and isn't completely stupid and childish like the other one. If it matched up a bit better with the actual lyrics DDTS would actually be a halfway decent video.

DDTS is slightly better only because of how incredibly awful the TMZ video is. As CharlesNelson said, Plympton was fixated on the "exclusive pics of your flabby behind" line and focused the entire video on it. Having said that, the DDTS video was also really awful, so this vote is really based on degrees of awfulness.

Kind of like a vote between "Syndicated Inc" and "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" would be.Kevbo1987 wrote: so this vote is really based on degrees of awfulness.

Plympton's terrible Al videos make me really sad. He is a talented animator with some really creative and innovative work. I was excited when I found out he was doing DDTS, figuring it would be a bountiful collaboration. But he just does not seem capable of taking advantage of the music video format. It's obvious from his other work that he likes to brainstorm and follow tangents, and that does not lend itself to a format that essentially has a set script that the audience is expecting you to follow, at least a little bit.

I've said it before. DDTS's terribleness was Plympton's fault. But TMZ's was solely Al's fault. After the disastrous DDTS, he knew what he was getting with Plympton. I don't understand why on earth Al would go back to that well a second time. Actually, he went back a third time if you count Polka Face.

Didn't we get a list of who animated every section of the video somewhere, only to find out that it wasn't Plympton, but someone else who animated in a similar style?Bruce the Duck wrote:I've said it before. We did, and I believe my Google search concludes that it was Panic Productions.

FWIW: TMZ has brighter and more eye-appealing visuals, but DDTS tells the story the best; went with the latter.
