It's all about the pentiums video.

Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

It's all about the pentiums video.

Post by QuentinC »

I just wanted to know if anyone here

could answer my two questions about the song and

video. In this video you notice there are many scenes

for each set they used. My first question is when Al filmed

this video did he (A. film each scene on each set separately)

or did he (B. film the entire song on a set and let editors

put the video together as we see it now)? The other

question is who is the woman who sings "It's all about

the pentiums" in the song? Al has never given the name

of this woman.

Thanks.

No indeed he hasn't. Nor is he likely to. From Ask Al:

QUOTE No, it's not Celine Dion. Actually, the woman who did that part asked that she not be given a credit, because she was being paid \"under the table.\" Shhh.

As to the rest of your question, I don't know the answer. Bermuda probably does, but he may refer it to a future Ask Al. If you have WAY Live there is a commentary track for TSB and IAATP, I don't remember if Al addressed that stuff there. I know he mentioned it being made in some office building. I guess I should rewatch that myself. Darn!

I'm not sure I understand your question. If I remember this interview correctly, Al usually has a clear idea of what he wants in his videos and that he can be a sort of control freak, so most likely every scene was storyboarded and planned.

As far as how they were shot, I suppose for some sequences it's possible that the song was played back in its entirity and the camera just filmed everything, but a lot of other shots are lyric-specific so it would make sense that once that "part" of the song was filmed, that was it.

Although every kind of production has an editor, most likely Al was still involved with the production at the editing stage, so the video we see is probably still pretty darn close to Al's original vision.

That's one great thing about making music videos. As long as the artist is "singing" the song on-camera, there's very little that can be done with changing the continuity of shots.

If you have an audio button on your DVD remote, you need to hit it once or twice while watching the videos to find the commentary.

Hey, I wanted to ask this, I already have WAYLIVE on VHS, is the secret commentary worth the DVD? If I get it, it will be 17 bucks. Anyone got it?

Plus, the name of the Pentiums singer was listed in the PLAYERS section of WA.com a while ago...

I got it. It's worth it not just for the commentary tracks, it's got the educational films too. So go buy it yourself before a giant bar of soap appears in your bedroom one night and you're never seen again.

And now it's gone. Oh man, shoulda wrote i down...

PH thingy: "Know my Name" by Kool Keith is another song that showcases DJ Swamp's (On PH) skills. Not a very popular song, so I don't think an authentic parody...
