Re: Newspaper and Magazine Alerts
I'm still catching up, so sorry if these were posted elsewhere.
Rolling Stone - July 31, Lana Del Ray cover - MF reviewed.
Rolling Stone - August 14, Katy Perry cover - full length article on Al, plus Al mentioned on the cover. I think this is the first time he's made the cover.
People - August 4, Bindi Irwin cover - Al makes the countdown list.
Also, does anyone know which Billboard issue has the #1? I checked the July 26 issue and unless I'm missing the obvious, I didn't see anything about Al or MF?

A sort of a "heady" (but glowing) article on Al in AlterNet: http://www.alternet.org/culture/america ... d-weird-al" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Interesting read, although the writer almost lost me right off the bat when she opens by implying that Al is making some kind of a comeback after peaking in "the '80's." Even stranger is that she later seems to be familiar with his post-80's stuff, so not sure why she has to identify him as an "80's geekmeister." Nonetheless, I enjoyed the article.

The July 26 issue only has a very brief mention of MF in the upcoming albums section. The August 2 issue is the one you are looking for as it has two articles about Al and about a bazillion mentions of him on the charts.
Also, you'll probably want to pick up the August 11 issue of People as Al plays Mad Libs on page 34.
And the August 4 issue of Closer Weekly with Burt Reynolds on the cover as there's a pretty cool article about Al inside.
Also, I heard that there's some mention in the Time magazine with the Space Invaders on the cover (July 28?) but by the time I got to the store, the issue was no longer available, so check your doctor's waiting room.

Very nice article. Al got choked up talking about "Mandatory Fun", and some special stuff happened before he taped his episode of @midnight.
I won't spoil it - http://www.vulture.com/2014/08/weird-al ... -ever.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:
"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11
So awesome!

That was a fantastic article. I love how appreciative Al is of MF debuting at #1. He is so genuinely honored and moved. I'm also pretty excited about the fact that Al is considering directing a movie. I really hope that comes to fruition.
